WYSIWYG stands for What You See Is What You Get. (Pronounced: whizzy wig)
Basically, it means that page content is edited in an environment that shows you what the end product looks like in real time. All commercial editors work like this, Microsoft Word and WordPerfect are examples of this. They hide all the special codes and programming required to perform very sophisticated formatting.
As can be seen on the sample menubar below:
![]()
Many of the similar function icons from your Word Processing program can be found. Additionally, there are icons that allow you to add links, anchors, examine the HTML code, etc.
Remember, if you make a mistake and really mess up the way the page displays, either don't save it or recover an older version from the backup. (You did do a backup, didn't you?)
Under the Hood
The Foxstone WYSIWYG Content Console uses the same editing engine (tiny_mce) found in the higer priced and more difficult to use Content Management solutions such as Drupal and Joomla. For those more technically inclined, this editing platform allows you to access the "raw" html to make changes exactly to your wishes. In fact, you may also compose your content in another platform (like Dreamweaver or HomeSite) and paste in the content.
See Sample Page 4 for info on page backups.
