Images and graphics are stored on the website in a graphics folder. For example, the graphic file for image directly above ("Graphics Headings") on can be found at:

Using the INSERT IMAGE button on the content editor on the maintenance page allows you to point to images and graphics not only on this server but on any web reachable site.
Getting the Images To Your Website
CMS images and graphics are uploaded from your computer to the website using FTP (File Transfer Protocol) programs. Many users may choose to use an FTP program that is designated for just that purpose (like TinyFTP or Filezilla). Many other users will choose to use the built-in FTP functionality of windows.
On the maintenance page, you will find a link called Uploading Graphics. This link outlines the steps to be used with either approach. (The Windows version allows you to drag and drop images to your website just like it was on your local computer.)
Naturally, graphical headings are attractive, but you will probably be using the image function for uploading your favorite pictures, diagrams, or whatever is appropriate for your site.
I've included a shot from Sedona, Arizona for your enjoyment.
What's nice about the content editor on the maintenance page, is that you can preview how the site will look before going live. You can also drag the pictures around on the page, just like you can do in your favorite word processor.
